Gomel Medical University internationally accredited
Belarus’ higher medical educational institution has been accredited for 5 years in line with standards of the World Federation of Medical Education
The certificate envisages enhancement of the university’s international prestige and its recognition in the foreign market of higher medical education – which will contribute to an increase in exports of educational services. Students, lecturers and graduates will get more opportunities for international activities.
Three educational programmes of the university have received certificates of international accreditation: General Medicine, Medical and Diagnostic Care, and Medical and Preventive Care.
This serious international recognition is rooted in a great work of the higher educational institution which has been recently strengthened and analysed. Experts of the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) studied a report on nine standards of international activity. They visited the university, got acquainted with its structural units, talked to heads, lecturers, students and leaders of practical classes. A positive decision was made.
The university staff believe the process of preparation for obtaining this authoritative status has benefited the institution’s development. “The Gomel State Medical University has received such accreditation for the first time – following only the Grodno State Medical University which was awarded previously,” the press service of the university reports.
