Golovchenko presented state awards for contribution to state development

A solemn ceremony was held in the Palace of the Republic, and among the awardees were First Deputy Justice Minister Natalia Filippova, Deputy Finance Minister Yelena Pechen, Head of the Department of Economics and Finance at the Industry Ministry Denis Sobol and other professionals whose merits and contribution to the development of their native country are recognised by the state

Before presenting the state awards on behalf of the President of Belarus, Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko noted, “Why have we timed this solemn event to coincide with our youngest state holiday? This is because the strength and future of our country lies precisely in unity. Unity has many dimensions, but – in this context – I would like to say about unity as a well-coordinated work of hardworking people who are not indifferent either to the present or to the future of their country.”

The Prime Minister stressed that those present have different professions, positions and titles, but all are united by a conscientious attitude to assigned tasks and dedication to their vocation. “Among those awarded today, there are especially many civil servants who are praised for exemplary performance of their official duties and significant achievements in the civil service,” Mr. Golovchenko said, adding that a civil servant plays the role of a conductor of the state interests in all spheres of public life and is a kind of mirror that reflects the policy of the state.

“Representatives of various state bodies are present here, but everyone is united by standing guard over the interests of the state. The state policy is based on the seemingly small things that you implement, so it is not for nothing that increased demands are placed on you, and your activities are invariably under close attention from your leaders and the whole society. This is happening because you are the face of power. Therefore, treat your title of a civil servant with honour and dignity,” he stressed.

The Prime Minister also noted that no event of such a level is complete without cultural workers, whose work was awarded the Francysk Skaryna Medal for contribution to the preservation of the country’s historical, spiritual and cultural heritage. “Belarusian people have the right to be proud of their centuries-old culture, and – thanks to you – its uniqueness and wealth are being multiplied,” Mr. Golovchenko added.

Words of gratitude were also addressed to industry workers, employees of the banking sector, and scientists. In total, more than 40 people received state awards today.
