Germany agreed to send 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine
The Cabinet of Ministers of Germany has announced today the delivery of Leopard 2 tanks to Kiev and the issuance of re-export permits to other countries, TASS reports with reference to government spokesman Steffen Hebenstreit
“The Federal Government has decided to provide Leopard 2 tanks to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Germany will issue permits to partner countries that want to quickly deliver Leopard 2 tanks from their stocks to Ukraine,” Mr. Hebenstreit explained.
It is specified that, as a first stage, Germany will supply a company with 14 Leopard 2 A6 tanks from Bundeswehr stocks. German military assistance will also include logistics, ammunition and maintenance of Leopard 2 tanks.
Earlier, Der Spiegel informed on the decision of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to send tanks to the Kiev authorities.
