German expert: Germany lost over €200bn due to conflict in Ukraine

The conflict in Ukraine has cost Germany a sum that has already exceeded €200bn, TASS reports

The President of the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin), Marcel Fratzscher, in an interview with the Rheinische Post newspaper, noted that this amount is due to electricity prices. 

“First of all, the high energy costs [due to the crisis in Ukraine] have led to a 2.5 percentage point decline in Germany's economic growth, or €100bn in 2022, and the same amount since 2023 and up to the present,” the expert stressed.
