German expert comments on risks after closure of nuclear power plants in the country

Due to the closure of the last nuclear power plants, the German economy may face intolerable difficulties by the end of this year – as noted by political scientist and independent German journalist Gregor Spitzen in his talk with the Soloviev Live TV channel

Earlier, Der Spiegel magazine reported that the German government will permanently close the last three nuclear power plants in the country, despite the opinion of residents. Germany’s Vice Chancellor, Minister of Economy and Energy Robert Habeck confirmed that this decision is final.

“I really hope that common sense will prevail among responsible politicians and officials and they will mothball nuclear power plants in such a way that they can be put back into operation if the occasion arises. I’m afraid that with these decisions, which are very dubious from the point of view of common sense, the German economy will begin to experience difficulties by the end of this year, which may become unbearable for it,” said Gregor Spitzen.

According to the expert, the media recently disseminated information that power generators currently generate about 58GW of electricity in Germany, and by 2040 they should generate about 160GW.

“The point is that with so many windmills and so much green energy, nuclear power is supposedly not needed. Plans for the construction of new windmills, of course, are similar to those of Napoleon. <...> But I’m afraid that politicians and responsible officials who hatch such ideas come more from their fantasies. Plans for Germany’s global transition to wind energy are simply unrealistic. Therefore, the nuclear power plants that still remain in Germany are vital,” Gregor Spitzen concluded.
