Genocide of the Belarusian People edition presented at Moscow International Book Fair
The publishing project – The Genocide of the Belarusian People – prepared jointly with the General Prosecutor’s Office of Belarus, and the Taste of Colour Revolutions international project, organised by the EcooM Analytical Centre and the Belarus Segodnya Publishing House, were showcased to the Moscow reading public as part of the opening of the international book trade fair. The book, which received a wide response in Belarus, includes reference, analytical and documentary materials on the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War and in the post-war period.
Belarus’ Information Minister Vladimir Pertsov noted that this publication broke circulation records in our country, “It is often said that the leader of publications is light reading, fiction. Meanwhile, The Genocide of the Belarusian People, published based on the materials of the General Prosecutor’s Office, was planned to have a circulation of 1,000 copies, while now its circulation exceeds 17,000. These are record numbers for the Republic of Belarus. On average, we consider 2,400 copies to be a successful circulation, while 17,000 is an absolute record even for commercial literature. It is in demand; it has definitely found its readers.”
The Information Minister is convinced that the value of this publication and the reason for its demand lies in its historical, proven truth.
“People are looking for this publication because they got somewhere a gap in their education, a gap in the information that we hushed up for certain reasons, wanting to be tolerant and kind towards our Western ‘partners’. The edition represents the truth about the tragedy of the Great Patriotic War, about the crimes that the Nazis committed on the territory of Belarus, when they purposefully destroyed the civilian population, acting on the basis of the implementation of their inhuman plans. When the Prosecutor General’s Office showed all these facts, when it carried out excavations, and when this book is based on the documentary evidence of the investigators, then it’s impossible to argue with these facts. These are not the ideological conjectures of science fiction writers of Western states who are trying to distort history. This is a historical truth, and therefore it is much-in-demand,” Vladimir Pertsov summed up.
