French artist Gustave Dore’s works in Minsk
Gustave Dore is known as a brilliant master of illustrations who authored tens of thousands of works – each being a part of the golden fund of the world art heritage
Gustave Dore’s illustrations accompany such famous works as The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, The Clever Hidalgo Don Quixote of La Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen by Rudolf Erich Raspe, Fairy Tales by Charles Perrault, Paradise Lost by John Milton, and others.
At present, Minskers and guest to the city can enjoy an opportunity to get acquainted with the outstanding French artist: the Masterpieces of Gustave Dore show – organised by the National Centre for Contemporary Arts and LIBRA – exhibits more than 120 illustrations by the master. The show is accompanied by information stands and documentaries about the life and work of Mr. Dore. Books featuring his illustrations – provided by the National Library – are also presented.
In addition, the exposition is harmoniously supplemented with Belarusian masters’ works – such as ceramics by Aleksandra Bavtruk, sculptures by Marina Kapilova and Lilia Nishchik, paintings and drawings by Sergei Balenok, Victoria Bogush, Angelina Vashchenko, Yekaterina Goncharik, Yelizaveta Goncharova, Diana Gorbach and Mikhail Dailidov, among others.
The show is open until October 24th.
