Free face masks offered in Gomel public transport

Employees and volunteers of the Belarus Red Cross public association actively assist against rising COVID-19 cases

“Around two weeks ago, not so many people wore face masks on public transport. However, their figure is much larger now. People start realising that a new coronavirus wave has come, and safety measures – including mask wearing – can help cope with it,” Artem Karpenko, from the Gomel regional organisation of the Belarus Red Cross Society, says.

Passengers who have no face masks can get them from Red Cross volunteers. In small towns, employees and volunteers of the organisation visit bus stations and explain the basic safety rules to passengers. In addition, they come to vaccination centres to communicate the necessity of coronavirus immunisation to people.
