Foreign Minister: Belarus, Saudi Arabia advocate building more just world order
In his talk with the ONT TV channel, Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik commented on the level of relations between Belarus and Saudi Arabia and explained what areas can become a locomotive for strengthening interstate ties
"Saudi Arabia is a very dynamically developing country. In recent years, it has transformed into a very serious regional and, I would even say, global player. The emphasis is on tripling the industrial potential of this country, and – in this regard – we are entering into a very important and mutually beneficial synergy of our co-operation in the fields of industry, agriculture, scientific, technical and innovative development. My meetings and negotiations in Riyadh were largely devoted to this aspect,” the Foreign Minister said.
Mr. Aleinik held a meeting with Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, during which the entire range of issues related to the development of political dialogue and bilateral trade and economic relations were discussed. “Among the priorities is the resumption of the work of the bilateral committee on trade and economic co-operation, and I think this will be implemented very soon," he noted.
During the meeting, the diplomat conveyed the messages of the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, to King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince – Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. The documents are devoted to bilateral relations and ways of their further development and activation in various fields. "It is important to note that these messages were the subject of discussion during the January 9th meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Saudi Arabia chaired by the King. During that meeting, these messages were announced, and the Saudi Government's focus on developing bilateral relations with the Republic of Belarus was emphasised. It is symbolic that our bilateral agreement in the field of agriculture was approved as well then, and I hope we will be able to sign it in the very near future," the Foreign Minister shared the details.
In addition, during the visit, the Belarusian delegation held meetings with the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia, Bandar bin Ibrahim Al Khorayef, and the head of the partner structure of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, President of the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, Dr. Munir bin Mahmoud E-Desouki.
"Naturally, during the negotiations, we noted the similarity of our views on the main world processes. Both Belarus and Saudi Arabia advocate building a more just world order that would ensure and take into account the interests of all states of the world without exception. Our positions are similar in many ways – in terms of the settlement of regional conflicts, when we talk about the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. Our positions coincide and suggest the earliest peaceful resolution of these conflicts," Mr. Aleinik added.
