For Courage and Steadfastness during Great Patriotic War pennant awarded to 9 settlements in Belarus
For Courage and Steadfastness during the Great Patriotic War pennant was awarded to nine settlements in Belarus, with the corresponding decree No. 44 signed on February 2nd by Head of State Aleksandr Lukashenko – as reported by the Belarusian leader’s press service
The cities of Baranovichi, Dzerzhinsk, Dyatlovo, Kalinkovichi, Lyuban, Osipovichi, Chausy, as well as the urban villages of Obol and Osveya, were awarded the pennant, being a worthy example of military and labour feats and national resistance shown during the Great Patriotic War.
They were awarded in connection with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi invaders and the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, as well as in order to perpetuate the feat of the Red Army soldiers, workers, partisans and underground fighters committed by them in the defence and liberation of the Belarusian cities and other populated areas.
