FM: Belarusian diplomats need no permits to honour heroism of Soviet soldiers who liberated Europe
Belarusian diplomats do not need any permits to pay tribute to the heroism of Soviet soldiers who liberated Europe and to honour the memory of those tortured in Nazi concentration camps – as stated by the press secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, Anatoly Glaz, BelTA reports
The media have recently reported that the delegations of Belarus and Russia were not invited to the commemorative events on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the liberation of the Mauthausen concentration camp by Soviet troops.
"We do not need any invitations or permits to pay tribute to the heroism of millions of Soviet soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the peoples of all European countries, without exception, to honour the memory of those tortured in Nazi concentration camps. This relates not only to Austria, but also to all other places. For us, this is a topic of justice and morality, which Western politicians – while trying to spin intrigues and play dirty tricks around it – obviously lack,” Mr. Glaz stressed.
Therefore, as in previous years, Belarusian diplomats around the world will hold commemorative events in various formats on their own and in co-operation with their Russian and other colleagues – laying wreaths at the monuments and obelisks of that terrible war and the great Victory of their ancestors.
"Dachau, Sachsenhausen, Buchenwald, Mauthausen, Ravensbruck, Auschwitz… We remember everyone who was killed and tortured. They gave their lives to protect us, and we will protect the memory of them,” the press secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said.
