FM: Belarus’ trade with China comparable to trade with all EU states

Having had to rebuild its trade and logistics routes, foreign economic and political ties due to the deterioration of relations with the West, Belarus has found strong and reliable friends in the East. As noted by Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov on the side-lines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, through such new relationships, Belarus can further intensify the entire range of its liaisons and also develop independently.

“We are receiving the technologies we need from there, while selling our products. Our people holiday there. Actually, it is now easier for Belarusians to get to Asia than to go on vacation to Europe," Mr. Ryzhenkov said.

The Foreign Minister stressed that China is Belarus’ main Asian partner, and the republic’s trade with it is now comparable to trade with the entire European Union. “We enjoy traditionally good relations with India, Pakistan, Iran, and the Persian Gulf states. Belarus is also well represented in Central Asia. On the side-lines of the General Assembly, we compared our positions with representatives of these countries, found solutions to some issues and discussed the possibility of implementing new projects," he said.
