Flights suspended in Germany due to nationwide protests
Security personnel at some of Germany's largest airports, including Frankfurt am Main, did not show up for work on February 1st, so flights were suspended, Reuters reports
Experts from Airports Council International (ACI) estimated that almost 200 thousand travellers are likely to suffer due to the cancellation or delay of more than 1,100 flights. Some of Germany's largest airports, including Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg and Stuttgart, announced that they would not service flights.
"The union is demanding a 2.80 Euro pay rise per hour and more generous overtime pay over 12 months on behalf of 25,000 workers in the sector,” the source said.
Last week, German train drivers staged their longest railway strike after a week-long nationwide protest by German farmers who blocked the country's roads.
