First Museum of Mother and Family opens in Stolin

The official opening ceremony for the Museum of Mother and Family took place on October 17th, during the Parental Love Week, in the historical centre of Stolin. The exposition is focused on outstanding women who left their mark on the history of Belarusian Polesie. Displays showcasing information on large families are especially prominent. There are 2,332 such families in Stolin District, with the Order of Mother being awarded to 837 women.

The first Order of Mother in the Belarusian history was bestowed on Maria Ozimko, a resident of Beloush agrotown. The largest current family with 18 children also lives in Stolin District. So it was not by chance that the Museum of Mother and Family opened in that area. Regional and district authorities supported the initiative, with the National Bank acting as the primary sponsor.

National Bank CEO Pavel Kallaur said, “I feel overjoyed at all the public support for our initiative and think there are a lot of other great projects ahead of us. It’s a great honour to thank and celebrate heroic women, holders of Orders of Mother, whom I now see here.”

Mr. Kallaur also made donations to the museum: female-focused coins and an icon of Our Lady Axion Estin from his family’s collection.
