First AI-generated animated feature presented in Minsk

The title of the movie focused on Bublik the bison, his friends, and their adventures, is Belovezhskaya Pushcha. It was made in a little under three months.

Dmitry Saksonov, the man whose idea served as the starting point for the project, said presenting his creation, “We are one of the first companies to make not only a full-length, AI-assisted animated movie, but a movie that uses technologies developed by a Belarusian company, Arteki Studio, here, in Belarus. Our plans for the coming year include about a dozen movies, and we’ll see what happens further down the road.”

Although members of the creative team call their movie AI-generated, neural networks acted mostly as assistants for directors and animation artists, said Oleg Atyakshev, Arteki Studio director who was also one of the project’s producers.

“The graphics were fully generated by neural networks, but there was also human input, definitely, like the screenplay and voicework. We had to finish the screenplay on the fly, choosing from multiple ending versions. We wanted to get it done before the New Year, and we did,” he added.
