Finnish Defence Ministry: NATO headquarters will open in the country

Finnish Defence Minister Antti Hyakkianen confirmed that NATO headquarters will start working in the country, RIA Novosti reports

Antti Hyakkianen noted that NATO headquarters and ground forces will station in Finland. He added that the headquarters will be subordinate to the alliance's joint command in Norfolk.

Earlier, Norwegian Defence Minister Bjorn Arild Gram stated that the headquarters of the NATO ground forces in Northern Europe was planned to be located in Finland. It was noted that the Finnish city of Mikkeli (140km from Russia’s border) was chosen for this purpose.
