Finland to tighten permanent residence permit rules
The Finnish Ministry of the Interior is starting to work on tightening the procedure for obtaining a permanent residence permit, TASS reports
The department noted in its press release that in order to obtain a permanent residence permit, it will be necessary to prove knowledge of Finnish or Swedish and have two years of work experience. The period of residence in Finland to obtain a document will be increased from the current four to six years.
The changes are being developed in accordance with the government programme and will be presented to the country’s parliament in spring 2025.
The programme is aimed to encourage migrants to integrate into society, find work and learn the language.
