Addressing the participants of the seminar, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei outlined the purpose of the event as follows, “Our common task is to find extraordinary responses to the challenges that, unfortunately, exist in the current situation.”
He emphasised that the seminar is extremely important, “It takes place in a difficult environment. The programme of the seminar was drawn up taking into account the tasks set for the diplomatic service of Belarus last year during a meeting with the participation of the Head of State, as well as the realities that are developing around our country.”
The minister noted that if a year ago it looked more like the growing hybrid economic and information wars against Belarus, which required thoughtful responses and decisions, but now the situation has become much more complicated. During the training, which will last for a week, Belarusian diplomats will hold a meeting in the government, meetings with representatives of various ministries and departments, banking organisations, concerns and enterprises.
“The list of topics of the current seminar is extensive. These are not only economy and trade. Today, it is critical to clearly understand and improve our capabilities to counter and minimise the external challenges and threats, both long-standing and emerging. Emphasis will be placed on import substitution in the context of countering the Western sanctions, analysing the Western sanctions in the banking sector and the possibilities of minimising them,” noted Vladimir Makei.
Diplomats will also discuss ways to solve emerging issues in the field of passenger, freight road and rail transportation.
Rector of the Academy of Public Administration Vyacheslav Danilovich, in turn, noted that the seminar will consider a significant number of economic issues, the situation of Belarus and its development amid the sanctions pressure.
“Consideration will be also given to the hybrid war unleashed against our country, the genocide of the Belarusian people during the war. We have been working to bring this agenda to the international level,” added Vyacheslav Danilovich.
