Expert: we need to analyse legislative framework and pause everything that infringes Belarus’ security
Today it is necessary to at least put on pause everything that could infringe Belarus’ security – as noted by Chairman of the Board of the Second National TV Channel Marat Markov in his talk with the Belarus 1 TV channel
On April 5th, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko agreed to submit the draft law On the Suspension of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly. The document envisages the suspension of the CFE Treaty, but does not mean Belarus’ withdrawal from it and the cessation of internal procedures in the Armed Forces related to its implementation.
“I don’t agree that the whole world respects us. There is a certain cesspool in the world of several centres, one of which is overseas, and the second is located a little closer: in Western Europe. They don’t respect us, they don’t take us into account and – let’s be clear-eyed about this – they won’t take us into account. In order for us not to turn our left cheek when they slap us on the right so that it already has bruises, we just need to analyse the entire treaty framework relating to our state security and see what else makes no sense for Belarus to comply with. We need to make decisions now. We are to hold the Belarusian People’s Congress in the nearest time and consider the Military Doctrine and the National Security Concept. We need now to analyse the legislative framework and at least put a pause on everything that infringes the security of Belarus,” underlined the expert.
