Expert said US wants to overthrow government in Georgia
Dmitry Suslov, the Deputy Director of the Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies at the National Research University – Higher School of Economics, said the US is keen to overthrow the current Georgian government and bring supporters of ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili to power, TASS reports
As Dmitry Suslov noted, it is the hand of the US and the West that ‘organises and determines the processes in Georgia in the situation with protests against the law on foreign agents’.
The expert explained that this law could potentially hit the American and Western clientele in Georgia, ‘i.e., the very recipients of Western funding, the grant-eaters of the Soros Foundation and other American organisations – both government and non-government’. Mr. Suslov said that the US itself is not interested in being limited in any way.
At the same time, he added that the US and the West in general are very irritated with the current Georgian leadership, which maintains a very cautious, neutral and constructive position towards Russia, while also openly saying that NATO expansion has led to the military conflict in Ukraine.
