Expert on new Military Doctrine: Belarus responds adequately to military tension increase

The new version of the provisions of the Military Doctrine was conditioned by the increased pressure on Belarus from the West, the growing aggressiveness of NATO, the large-scale use of tools for violent change of power in sovereign states, the process of Nazification of Ukraine, and the armed conflict – as stated by military-political analyst Aleksandr Tikhansky, sb.by reports

“We must admit that in the near future we should not expect a decrease in the level of military tension, and the threats to the security of Belarus and the Union State will not decrease in any way. This forces us to respond adequately to changes in the situation and revise the provisions of the Military Doctrine. We are considering a target-focused document that has a clear indication of the sources of military threats to the republic. Meanwhile, unlike Western countries, which in their military-political reports directly name the enemy and list specific countries, we see the alleged sources of threats. There is also a chapter in the updated Military Doctrine that outlines the allied commitments of Belarus. It is primarily about ensuring security within the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO), the Union State, and other agreements with foreign states,” the expert noted.

Mr. Tikhansky added, “The document formulates the measures to be taken by the state in the event of risks, challenges, and threats and outlines specific actions of state authorities in such situations.  As part of the response to possible threats to the military security of Belarus, the official views on the use of tactical nuclear weapons deployed on our territory are clearly defined, which is considered an important component of preventive deterrence of a potential enemy from unleashing armed aggression and is a forced response to the failure of Western countries to comply with the terms of legislation to ensure international security guarantees.”
