Expert on NATO aggression: Belarus will make no concessions
In his talk with Alfa Radio, a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Director General of the National Library Vadim Gigin, explained what actions Belarus is taking in response to the NATO aggressive policy
The Saber Strike exercises began in Lithuania, near the Belarusian border, on April 19th to redeploy the units of the US and German armed forces, and – as noted by Mr. Gigin – they demonstrate the aggressive intentions of the NATO bloc against the republic. According to the expert, they got afraid of the recent working trip of Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko to the Oshmyany District of the Grodno Region, bordering Lithuania. The Head of State then inspected how the measures aimed at the checking of combat readiness of formations and military units were progressing.
“Belarus is constantly checking its combat readiness. As regards how the country’s opponents treat such measures, I listen to what the Ukrainian generals and military commanders say: they believe that Belarusians are right in their actions. We have plans for everything, including constant exercises, sudden inspections, work at deployment sites, conscription of reservists, verification of how military enlistment offices and the entire public administration system operate. In addition, tactical nuclear weapons are stored in our country, and this is the most important response. This is the key point. It is possible to deploy as many army corps as possible against Belarus, but a single use of our nuclear weapons will reset everything to zero. Of course, the enemy can strike back, doing this with conventional weapons. Our President has made it clear that Belarusians are not going to play this ping-pong game. In the event of an attack, the response will be immediate, and the enemy will have to further think for themselves what to do. The Russian Federation will then respond with all its strategic forces,” Mr. Gigin said.
The expert stressed that there are no grounds for fear, “This is called strategic deterrence. The enemy knows that we have these weapons, the enemy knows that our Commander-in-Chief is Aleksandr Lukashenko, and knows who Aleksandr Lukashenko is. This is the man who, in 2020 and at other times, did not give up. [French President Emmanuel] Macron, [former German Chancellor Angela] Merkel were calling him to lullaby, but he refused to talk. He took an assault riffle and made it clear that Belarusians would stand to the last. It is with such Commander-in-Chief, with our President, that we go to the victory. They know that he has no red lines. There is our territory, there is the safety of our citizens, and – as soon as they make an attempt to attack – our response will be immediate. We will not delay, persuade, or send signals. This tough position allows us to maintain diplomatic contacts with a potential enemy, whether it is the Kiev regime or Westerners. We are not going to make stupid concessions, the ones for the sake of concessions, or just to start a conversation. Lukashenko was already acting as a teacher while you were just studying.”
