Expert on Lukashenko’s global authority and friendly atmosphere reigning during his visit to Uzbekistan

In Tashkent, Belarusian leader Aleksandr Lukashenko was welcomed as the most honoured guest, and that testified to the presidents’ friendship – as stated by Vadim Gigin, the Director General of the National Library of Belarus, in his talk with Alfa Radio

“President Mirziyoyev contributed much to that visit, and literally everything was done to ensure the creation of a special atmosphere. Not only Belarus was interested in that visit, but also Uzbekistan, and such an attitude indicates the significance of our country," Mr. Gigin stressed.

At the same time, the expert recalled how fugitives speak about Belarus, “[They say] Belarus is a small country, and immediately wonder what our national idea is. What is your national idea? The latter is just to look to the West, and there is no other way. Meanwhile, we are paving other paths, and our President – by paying visits to different corners of the world – is outlining and strengthening the future of our statehood. This is a very serious contribution of Aleksandr Lukashenko personally as President to Belarus’ sovereignty.”

Mr. Gigin emphasised that the authority of the Belarusian leader in the international arena is indisputable, “This authority is global in nature. Look at how the President was greeted at the UN Forum in Dubai. The West has closed its doors to us, but, guys, as soon as your presidents and prime ministers go beyond your ‘garden’ – as Borrell called it, you behave differently, since you understand that Belarus enjoys great respect in the big world that is not limited to the transatlantic community. Belarus is respected for its clear position and loyalty to its allied relations with the Russian Federation. The consistent policy pursued by the republic is respected, and Aleksandr Lukashenko's political behaviour and political style also command respect. Belarus is involved in the most serious processes of global transformation.”
