Expert: nuclear security of Union State is at high level

In his talk with sb.by, military expert Igor Chibisov explained whether nuclear security of the Union State is reliably ensured

“The nuclear security of the Union State stands at a high level, as evidenced by the recent joint exercises of Belarus and Russia on the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons. The deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on Belarusian territory is also an important aspect in ensuring the country’s security. These weapons are a deterrent to the leadership of the countries that are unfriendly to us. They know now that, in case of their attack or aggression, we have something to stop them with and to cause unacceptable damage. There will be no ‘red lines’,” the expert noted.

Mr. Chibisov added, “At the recent meeting with students of the Vitebsk Region, Head of State Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled how nuclear weapons had been created: fortunately, thanks to the efforts of the Soviet Union, the United States failed to become a monopolist in this area, despite all attempts. The President stressed, “What would have been if it hadn’t happened? If there were no Soviet nuclear shield today, which is concentrated in Russia, we would not exist. Today they do not know what to do with us: if they try to be tougher, they will be responded with a nuclear strike, which will destroy the entire planet. Meanwhile, they do not want to die, because they – those who make these decisions – enjoy a well-fed and good life.”
