Expert: Kiev may arrange provocation at NPP to distract attention from failure of its counteroffensive

The Ukrainian authorities may arrange a provocation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant to distract attention from an unsuccessful counteroffensive – as noted by the Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN), a member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, Nikita Danyuk, in his talk with Channel One

As noted by the expert, the West now faces a very difficult situation. “They have greatly raised the stakes, telling the whole world that they can defeat Russia. However, it is not possible to do this, the counteroffensive has turned into a laughing stock. People wonder where the AFU results are. The NATO Summit is just around the corner, the deadline is close," he said.

Mr. Danyuk added that Kiev has no other tools left but to organise some kind of provocation. At the same time, Russia will once again be blamed for what happened at the station. “Firstly, they need to shift the focus of public attention to some problem. Secondly, the narratives that Russia is to blame for what is happening at the NPP have been ready for a long time," the expert explained.

Mr. Danyuk noted that Russia is aware of Kiev's plans and calls on the world community to prevent them, “Clear-headed analysts wonder why Russia may need to arrange a provocation at the NPP. This can only be beneficial to the West and Ukraine, everyone understands this," he concluded.
