Expert: it is the West that initiated escalation of modern international situation
The West uses various platforms, including the OSCE and the UN, to pursue its confrontation policy, but Belarus, Russia and other countries of goodwill realise this and, accordingly, maintain their presence within these organisations to be able to convey their position – as stated by Aleksandr Shpakovsky, the Counsellor-Envoy of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia, in his talk with Alfa Radio
As noted by the programme presenter, Vadim Shepet, an unpleasant situation is developing with regard to the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe: there is a practice of deliberately excluding individual states from dialogue and contacts on arms control, confidence-building and security measures. "Actually, representatives of our country have repeatedly stated that this creates a serious risk of a critical aggravation of the situation in the field of regional security. Why is the West purposefully aggravating this situation, which is already very tricky?” he asked.
Mr. Shpakovsky commented, “Such trends are due to the fact that it is the West that initiated the escalation of the modern international situation. Therefore, any form of control that may involve exposing all their plans is, naturally, unacceptable for the collective West. In addition, it seeks to dominate the existing international platforms – such as the UN and the OSCE. We understand this situation, but at the same time we maintain our presence at these sites in order to be able to convey our position – which is important in diplomacy. We are now in a period of the world order transformation, the transition from a unipolar to a multipolar system. I believe the multipolar world would be created, and some assessment to the actions of the West, including from the point of view of international law, will be given in the future. In this situation, it is important that Belarus, Russia and other states of goodwill declare their position at various prestigious international venues, at least for the sake of history, so that later it would be possible to examine the sequence of points of view of the parties according to documents and to identify the states, specific perpetrators, representatives of the political circles that have put humanity on the brink of World War III.”
The expert also drew attention to the OSCE observers’ bias in electoral campaigns in various states. “They sometimes even do not find funds to arrive with observation purposes, and they are not invited to some countries – i.e. the United States. At the same time, they send large missions – primarily consisting of representatives of Western countries – to some territories, and these people come with the already prepared protocols and reports on the conduct of election campaigns. There is also another OSCE-related point: the ever-memorable Minsk agreements. The organisation acted as a guarantor of compliance with the documents, it was a kind of mediator, but the OSCE mission in Donbass has repeatedly performed espionage actions in favour of the Ukrainian side. The mission of this organisation has become not a factor of peace, but a factor of division and destruction. Such actions confirm that this structure is now dominated by representatives of Western countries, who often have no relation to diplomatic circles, but to special services and intelligence. Naturally, they twist the position of this organisation in such a way that the illegal actions of the West to escalate the international situation are hidden, and all possible tools that can help the international community really identify the true warmongers – those who push humanity towards militarisation and conflict – are blocked.”
