Expert explained why European youth is jealous of Belarusian peers
In Belarus, graduates of educational institutions are provided with their first workplace, while young people in Europe have to search for a job independently – which is not easy
In his talk with Alfa Radio, Aleksandr Lukyanov, the First Secretary of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, commented, “Many young people from European countries are jealous of us. They are surprised that a mandatory postgraduate work assignment is applied in Belarus, and that our alumni are employed. Young people in their states have to look for a job independently, even after receiving a diploma, and this is a challenge. True, some professions probably do not require serious competence, but everyone actually wishes to be in demand in the labour market. In this regard, the state has created a system that gives an absolute guarantee.”
Mr. Lukyanov also drew attention to the responsibility of employers who sign contracts with their future specialists, “These guys should come back and work out the resources invested by the state so that they become professionals. Young people must be aware of this process, and this responsibility is now present. A number of meetings have taken place on this issue recently, even at the level of the President. The Head of State emphasised that as well. Moreover, employers’ responsibility will also be serious: those who sent a person to study at the expense of the state for further employment should definitely provide a job. In the same way, young people who study on preferential terms should have no illusions,” Mr. Lukyanov stressed.
As noted by the expert, the fugitives are now trying to impose illusory ideas on the Belarusian youth about a cloudless existence in Europe. “However, they do not talk about a social package applied to each of the employed, especially non-citizens, and how they emphasise this status. In this regard, our personnel training system is competitive," Mr. Lukyanov concluded.
