Expert explained Kallas' words about political suicide
Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas is forced to be led by the United States and Great Britain to the detriment of her own country's interests – as noted by Aleksei Avdonin, an analyst at the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research, in his talk with Alfa Radio
Earlier, Kaja Kallas noted that her policy of increasing military spending means ‘political suicide’ for her, but there is no other choice.
“Let me explain what political suicide means. Due to the fact that Kaja Kallas has to follow the NATO countries' lead, she stated the need to increase military allocations to the detriment of the same teachers. They have already taken to the streets and started protesting. Political parties have applied for a vote of non-confidence in the Prime Minister. That is why it is called political suicide. Kaja Kallas is taking the hit, following the lead of the United States and Great Britain to the detriment of her citizens, her national economy, and her national interests,” Aleksei Avdonin stated.
According to the expert, similar behaviour by the authorities can also be observed in other Baltic countries and in Poland.
“They are following Washington's lead, trying to look nice and good, but in reality, we understand that the political elites of these countries have become disconnected from the needs of the people, have become anti-popular,” Mr. Avdonin stressed.
The expert explained that this can lead to two scenarios, “The first one may see further strengthening of Nazi, fascist formations. Becoming militarised, they will try to control the people by instilling fear. The second scenario is the intensification of mass protests aimed at overthrowing the leadership, political elites, and bringing their national leaders to power.”
