European integration losing its attractiveness in Moldova

The idea of European integration is losing its prestige in Moldova – as noted by Constantin Starîș, representing the Bloc of Communists and Socialists in Moldova’s legislative assembly, RIA Novosti reports

Speaking on the ITV channel, Constantin Starîș said that European integration is beginning to be perceived by the Moldovan people as something terrible, “They tighten the screws, deprive of freedoms, and don’t even give food. Moreover, many polls show that the level of support for European integration in the Republic of Moldova has dropped to a record 32 percent – the lowest level of support in the country’s history.”

The politician also noted that the democratic field of the republic – under the control of the pro-Western Action and Solidarity party and its unofficial leader, President Sandu – has significantly degraded.
