Expert: by its peaceful nuclear programme, Belarus ruined plans to put entire region on Western ‘electric needle’
Lithuania and Poland are not independent and sovereign states today, so they are tasked not to produce, but to buy electricity and other energy carriers from the sources indicated by Brussels and Washington, who once really wanted Belarus to act according to such a scheme – as noted by national security expert Aleksandr Tishchenko
“However, we have stepped over this problem by building not only a real independent state, but our own nuclear power plant. With our peaceful nuclear programme, we have ruined their plans to put the entire region on the Western ‘electric needle’. Is there any common sense in Lithuania’s buying electricity almost 4 times more expensive than it could get, e.g., from the Belarusian NPP? Thanks to the imaginary promises of Brussels, Lithuanians are left with only nuclear waste, a ruined economy and pensioners who walk through their cold rooms with candles. Is that why they joined the European Union? Poland is also not far away. Every third house there is still heated with coal. Nevertheless, the Poles – despite participating in a frenzied campaign to discredit the construction of the Belarusian NPP – have long been hatching similar plans themselves. The question only arises: will they be allowed to come true? Most likely, they will continue to buy electricity wherever they say at the ‘recommended’ price. Moreover, the nuclear issue today is another tool for demonising Belarus, which is periodically activated alongside other speculative preparations,” the expert explained.
