Expert: BRICS becoming powerful and fair alternative to EU
BRICS is strengthening its positions in the international arena, with increasing number of countries wishing to join this association in order to establish partnerships and strengthen their economies – as stated by Vladimir Borovenko, the Deputy Chairman of the Standing Commission on Industry, Energy, Transport, Communications and Digital Development of the House of Representatives of Belarus, in his talk with Alfa Radio
According to the expert, BRICS is gaining weight in the international arena.
“The organisation unites a range of leading states. It is becoming a stable, powerful, and promising alternative to the European Union, with increasing number of countries applying to join this association in order to establish co-operation with the participating countries and ensure the development of their economies,” Mr. Borovenko underlined.
The parliamentarian suggested that Belarus is likely to be accepted into this organisation, “Belarus is not standing aside either. Belarusians have applied to join BRICS. There are high chances that the application will be considered positively. We hope so.”
The deputy recalled that Cuba is also interested in BRICS membership, because it shares the principles of the participating members. Moreover, BRICS also provides opportunities for economic development.
“Cuba is a friendly country to us. Cubans share the positions, ideals and directions that BRICS cultivates. Havana is taking steps to join those organisations that are close to it in spirit. At the same time, the Cuban government is keen to develop its production and economy as a whole. Belarus is liaising with Cuba across various directions. Cubans and Belarusians will have more prospects for co-operation within BRICS,” the expert concluded.
