The exhibition – Books Presented to President – has officially opened at the National Library of Belarus today, and the opening ceremony was attended by First Deputy Head of the President Administration Natalya Petkevich, Chairman of the Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko, and Director General of the National Library Vadim Gigin
“The whole era of sovereign independent Belarus is viewed through books,” the Director General of the National Library noted. “Through the publications presented at the exhibition, one can trace, in particular, the visits of the Head of State to various countries, as well as the wide international context of public diplomacy.”
According to Mr. Gigin, the exhibition showcases books donated to the library by the President from his personal collection. All of them were presented to the Head of State at different times by the heads of other states, including the CIS countries, major public and cultural figures.
The exposition features more than 50 publications: rare 18th-19th century books, as well as modern publications on various subjects — culture, history, art, economics, science, sports, and tourism. A significant part of the collection consists of books on the development of various activities of the member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. A number of publications collected over the past thirty years of the institution of presidency development in sovereign Belarus demonstrate important priorities and promising areas of the country’s activity. Among them is the Belarusian Spacecraft. From Idea to Launch photo album.
