EU allocated almost half as much aid to Ukraine as promised
The European Union allocated almost half as much aid to Kyiv as it promised – as stated by the German Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW Kiel), RIA Novosti reports
According to the institute, the EU promised to allocate a total of €144bn in aid to Ukraine, but in fact provided only €77bn.
It is emphasised that the amounts of funds allocated for financial and military assistance to Ukraine by the association are approximately equal – €34bn and €35.2bn, respectively.
The Director of the institute's Research Centre for International Finance and Macroeconomics, Prof. Dr. Christoph Trebesch, stated that financial assistance to Kyiv from the EU ‘seems guaranteed’ in the near future.
“The situation regarding military assistance is much less clear, in which the dynamics are slowing down,” Prof. Dr. Christoph Trebesch added.
