Electric vehicle sales in Belarus up by 28% in 2022
Last year, the sales of electric vehicles in Belarus increased by 28 percent, with the Geely Geometry electric car taking the lead – as noted at a press conference: Summarising the Results of the Automotive Industry of the Republic of Belarus for 2022
“There are good backgrounds for the development of electric vehicles in our country,” says BelGee Director General Gennady Svidersky. “This is a charging infrastructure, which has over 600 electric charging stations, a sufficient amount of electricity generated by the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP), good roads, and fairly small distances between cities. In my opinion, the only limiting factor now is the price of electric vehicles. In order to reduce production costs, the BelGee Plant has chosen a strategy of supplying ready-made electric vehicles from China, while providing service and the entire infrastructure for supporting vehicles. If we manage to significantly reduce the price of electric vehicles and make a budget segment, then we can witness a noticeable increase in the number of electric vehicles on our roads.”
