Eismont revealed key criterion for choosing President’s interviewers

In the Time Has Chosen Us documentary, Press Secretary of the President of Belarus Natalya Eismont revealed the criterion the Head of State had set for choosing his interviewers, BelTA reports

“We never deny any interviews. Obviously, it’s impossible to satisfy everyone, but I can tell you that we thoroughly review, study, and analyse every request for an interview we receive, be it from a large global news agency, a TV channel, or a smaller news outlet. The only criterion the Head of State had set for us there is that an interview has to be topical, aligned with the agenda, and appropriate for the moment. As we all know, the President’s schedule is super-busy, so everything has to be precise and done for a good reason,” Ms. Eismont said.

Speaking about the high interest to the Belarusian affairs in the global media in 2015, Aleksandr Lukashenko’s Press Secretary pointed out it was caused by a number of factors, including the flare-up of hostilities in Southeastern Ukraine, the Normandy contact group talks in Minsk, and the lead-up to the Presidential election in Belarus.

“We had about a dozen large, let’s say, high-profile events in 2015. That means the President talked to the media in various formats virtually every month,” she noted.
