Economy Ministry: trade turnover between Belarus, China reached historic high
Trade, economic and investment co-operation between Belarus and China is steadily developing – as stated by Belarus’ Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar at a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Belarus, Zhang Wenchuan, sb.by reports with reference to the Economy Ministry
As Mr. Chebotar noted during the negotiations, mutual trade turnover has reached a historical maximum over the past decade, but at the same time there are opportunities to increase it and expand the product range. "Belarus is China's most important partner in the field of high-quality agricultural and food products. We are interested in developing co-operation with China on the purchase of technological equipment and spare parts, on the supply of Belarusian equipment, and the creation of joint ventures," he said.
In August 2024, a historic document was signed: the agreement on trade in services and investments. Its expected result is a significant increase in exports of Belarusian services to China and Chinese investments in Belarus. Comfortable conditions for this are offered in the Great Stone Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park. Five clusters have already been formed on its territory: in the fields of machine and machine tool construction, telecommunications, medicine, and logistics. The establishment of facilities manufacturing new pharmaceutical products and medical equipment is planned for the near future.
"We are able to implement all these and many other long-term plans, raise trade and economic interregional co-operation to a new level, and form a new content for the all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership between Belarus and China," the Economy Minister stressed.
