Mr. Chervyakov noted that the Russian Federation is actively developing the infrastructure for sending cargo under the ‘river-sea’ scheme from the ports of the Nizhny Novgorod Region to the ports of the Caspian and Black seas in the direction of Iran, China, India, and Africa. “For these routes to become in demand by our exporters, it is necessary to work out tariffs for transportation and transhipment of goods with Russian colleagues. The key thing is that these logistics routes should be competitive with traditional rail and road transport,” he said, adding that implementation of the signed intergovernmental agreement on navigation on inland waterways, which was ratified in the Republic of Belarus on June 22nd, 2023, will facilitate the process.

In turn, Mr. Ishchenko said that organisation of multimodal routes with transportation and transhipment of bulk and piece cargo is being worked out at present. In the coming future, the most suitable options will be proposed.
