Deputy PM: level of Belarus’ progress in achieving SDGs reaches 80 percent
The level of Belarus’ progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) remains high — 80 percent – against the world’s incomparably low level of merely 20 percent – as stated by Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko during the opening of the 2nd National Forum on Sustainable Development in Minsk
Igor Petrishenko underlined that the provisions of the 2030 Agenda and the tasks of the Belarusian state are closely interrelated. Belarus remains committed to fulfilling its international obligations.
“Our country has an effective national system for achieving 17 SDGs under the leadership of the National Co-ordinator. The level of Belarus’ progress in achieving SDGs remains high — 80 percent – against the world’s incomparably low level of only 20 percent,” the Deputy PM asserted.
Moreover, he noted that for more than a decade (since 2014) Belarus has maintained its position as a country with a very high level of development, being ranked 69th among 193 countries in the Global Human Development Index.
“Belarus is placed 30th among 166 countries in the ranking of achieving the SDGs. Decent results strengthen Belarus’ position in the international arena and reinforce confidence that we are on the right track. The ideology of ‘sustainability’ underlies all strategic and programmatic documents of the country under the auspices of the National Strategy for Sustainable Development,” Igor Petrishenko said.
