The Ekstra Bladet publication quoted the country's Finance Minister, Nicolai Wammen, as saying, “The government intends to reduce unnecessary administration jobs and to this end has concluded an agreement with municipalities and regions to cut administration costs. The released funds will be used to finance a significant increase in the salaries of a large number of our healthcare workers."

According to the official, the government has already reduced the state apparatus earlier this year, and annual savings are expected to reach 400m Kroner (about $60m) as a result.
