Mr. Khrenin firmly believes the meeting will serve to promote further military co-operation, stronger friendship and understanding between the two nations.
“Vietnam is one of our key partners in South-East Asia. In my opinion, our interactions owe their success to the similarity between our foreign policy principles, mainly our commitment to peaceful resolution of international disputes and co-operation in the name of growth and development, not against any third countries,” the minister said.
Viktor Khrenin discussed the military-political situation in the world with Phan Van Giang, outlining Belarus’ position in the following terms, “When it comes to strengthening national security, the Republic of Belarus is open for co-operation with all countries which pursue friendly policies towards it. Vietnam is an active participant of the UN peacekeeping missions, humanitarian interventions, rescue operations, and post-war restoration efforts. The socialist republic contributes greatly to a peaceful and stable environment, the culture of co-operation in the region and the world. I believe those are the vectors we can develop co-operation between our militaries along.”
Defence ministers discussed the current state of mutual interactions between the countries and reviewed the 2024 results noting that they showed significant progress. They also reaffirmed their mutual intention to deepen and strengthen their contacts.
Vietnam’s defence minister, in turn, said his country is interested in co-operation and sharing experience when it comes to air force and AD operations, automated control systems development, military science, peacekeeping operations and shared military personnel training.
Viktor Khrenin invited Phan Van Giang to make an official visit to Belarus; the Vietnamese general said he plans to be in our country in May 2025.
