Daughter of Iran’s ex-president sentenced to five years in prison
A daughter of Iran’s former president, Faezeh Hashemi Rafsanjani, has been sentenced to five years in prison for supporting mass protests in the country, RIA Novosti reports
Faezeh Hashemi’s lawyer, Neda Shams, noted that the verdict is not yet final. “A preliminary verdict in the Iranian judicial system implies the possibility of appealing it," she added.
It is informed that several more charges have been brought against the woman while she stays in prison.
Faezeh Hashemi Rafsanjani is a reformist politician and a former member of Parliament. She was a supporter of the Iranian opposition, participated in anti-government demonstrations and protests. Faezeh was detained on September 27th last year for supporting the mass protests that outbroke in connection with the death of a young woman detained by the country’s morality police.
