Czech President on timing of Moldova’s accession to EU
Moldova could become a full member of the European Union in 2030 – as noted by Czech President Petr Pavel following negotiations with the visiting President of Moldova Maia Sandu, TASS reports
The Czech leader expressed confidence that over the next seven years Moldova will be able to carry out the reforms necessary to implement its plans to join the EU.
Moreover, the politician declared the Czech Republic’s full support for the speedy admission of Moldova into the community. According to the politician, the EU must be united in opposing attempts by totalitarian countries to interfere in the internal affairs of states that have taken the path of democracy.
Petr Pavel drew attention to the fact that Prague offers Chisinau effective assistance on the path of integration into the community. Particularly valuable, in his opinion, is the use of the experience accumulated by the Czech Republic, when more than two decades ago it made efforts to quickly join the EU.
According to ČTK, Maia Sandu expressed gratitude to the Czech side for supporting her country in joining the EU, also expressing interest in expanding Moldovan-Czech trade-economic liaisons.
