Cuba calls for negotiated solution to Ukrainian conflict
Juan Esteban Lazo Hernández, the President of the National Assembly of People’s Power and the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, believes that the only way to resolve the conflict in Ukraine is through negotiations taking into account the interests of all parties, RIA Novosti reports
He made such a statement during a speech at a plenary session of the Federation Council, “I would like to condemn in the strongest possible terms the unilateral sanctions imposed by the governments of the West in general and the US in particular. I would also like to confirm that Cuba stands for a diplomatic solution to the conflict that takes into account the interests of all parties, including the Russian Federation.”
He also underlined that such a crisis could have been avoided if the United States and NATO had not approached the borders of the Russian Federation and if an increasingly offensive military doctrine had not prevailed in this alliance, which for decades ignored the concerns and reasonable demands of the Russian Federation regarding security guarantees.
