CSTO Secretary General thanked Belarus for holding high-level conference on Eurasian security
Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) Imangali Tasmagambetov thanked Belarus for holding a high-level conference on Eurasian security. He stated this during a joint meeting of the Council and the sixteenth plenary session of the CSTO PA, held today in Moscow, which summed up the results of the implementation of the priorities of Belarus’ chairmanship in the CSTO in 2023
“I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Belarusian chairmanship for holding the Eurasian Security: Reality and Prospects in a Transforming World High-Level International Conference in Minsk in October. It is fundamentally important that the overwhelming majority of speeches by prominent politicians and scientists who took part in the forum underlined the particular relevance of strengthening the role of regional organisations,” said Imangali Tasmagambetov.
The CSTO Secretary General stated that no organisation on its own is capable of ensuring peace, security and development in a complex, rapidly changing world. In this regard, according to him, work to reduce strategic security risks through preventive regional activities acquires additional relevance.
“The current situation in the world clearly requires deepening the work along the information, analytical and forecast tracks. Making the right proactive decisions requires a clear understanding of the direction of development of the international situation and the potential risks associated with them. The success of this work is impossible without the support of influential government organisations and research centres in partner countries. A lot has already been done for this. The secretariat has co-operation agreements with some of these centres. We invite parliamentarians to actively participate in this work,” added Imangali Tasmagambetov.
