Crocodiles crawling around cities in Mexico
In late June and early July, heavy rains hit north-eastern Mexico, causing rivers and reservoirs to overflow their banks and more than 200 crocodiles to crawl into cities, RIA Novosti reports
As noted by The Associated Press, the Mexican authorities caught 206 crocodiles in just over two weeks, and also warned that they may continue to enter urban areas due to overflowing rivers and reservoirs in the border state of Tamaulipas, as well as due to an increase in the sightings of these animals in the lagoon systems.
The Tamaulipas Secretariat of Urban Development and Environment clarified that all captured crocodiles have been released into their natural habitat, where they will not pose a danger to the urban population.
