CNN: US warns Russia not to touch American nuclear technology at Zaporozhye NPP
The US Department of Energy has appealed to Moscow ‘not to touch American nuclear technology’ at the Energodar nuclear power plant – as reported by RIA Novosti with reference to CNN
CNN received a letter from Andrea M. Ferkile, Director of the Energy Department’s Office of Nonproliferation Policy, dated March 17th this year. As the channel clarifies, it was sent to Direcror General of the State Corporation Rosatom Alexey Likhachev. The letter notes that the Zaporozhye NPP ‘contains US-origin nuclear technical data that is export-controlled by the United States Government’.
Washington, according to CNN, urged Russia ‘not to touch this nuclear technology’. What exactly is at stake is not specified.
Zaporozhye NPP is located on the left bank of the River Dnieper. It is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity.
