Chinese FM: US ruining Muslims in Middle East by fomenting wars
The United States expresses concern about the observance of the rights of Muslims in China, but at the same time contributes to the mass death of followers of Islam, provoking and fomenting wars in the Middle East – as stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, TASS reports
At meetings in New York with the heads of several foreign ministers, Wang Yi noted, “At the meeting of the UN Security Council on Human Rights held on September 24th in Geneva, the United States and a small group of other countries used the issue of Xinjiang, attacking and discrediting the human rights situation in China. Everyone wonders in this regard: why the United States, which cares so much about human rights among Muslims, continues to provoke or support wars in regions such as the Middle East, which leads to a large number of victims among innocent followers of Islam.”
The Chinese Foreign Minister added that, by such actions, Washington ‘once again demonstrated to the whole world what double standards are’, “Why does the United States turn a blind eye to historical injustice towards the Arab peoples and does not support full membership of Palestine in the UN? Why Americans are not playing a proper role in achieving a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the complete withdrawal of [Israeli] troops from there?”
Wang Yi recalled that Muslim states widely support Beijing, and the ‘political manipulations’ of the United States and some of its allies related to the ‘infringement of human rights’ in China are ‘becoming increasingly unpopular’. The Chinese Foreign Minister stressed that many Islamic states have already ‘seen the tricks of the United States, which is trying – under the guise of human rights – to interfere in the internal affairs of China and developing countries’.
“The historical examples of Western powers violating human rights in China are back in the recent past. They do not have the competence to lecture our country from above," Wang Yi said. "The slanderous campaign [of the West] will not be crowned with success. We are ready to co-operate with other states on equal terms on human rights issues. China's doors are open to the whole world, we invite friends from all countries to visit China.”
