Chinese Ambassador: China-Belarus cooperation boasts broad prospects and huge potential
This was stated by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Belarus Xie Xiaoyong during the seventh ceremony of signing the act of receiving a humanitarian batch of vaccine against coronavirus. He stressed that the agreement on the transfer of the vaccine to the Belarusian side was reached during the meeting of President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Samarkand as part of the meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council.
“A few days ago, a new batch of 2 million doses of COVID vaccine arrived in Minsk. Taking this opportunity, on behalf of the Chinese embassy in Belarus, I would like to congratulate you on the safe and successful delivery of this humanitarian cargo to Minsk and its transfer to our friends. The pandemic, which broke out back in 2020, has dragged on for three years now, threatening human security and economic development around the world. Since its inception, China and Belarus have been closely liaising in the joint fight against COVID.”
The Ambassador recalled how Belarus and China exchanged humanitarian supplies with PPE, vaccines and other medical products. Moreover, he noted that a drug of traditional Chinese medicine developed by one of the Great Stone Park’s residents is produced in Belarus. It has been licensed for use in our country.
“We have already attended such ceremonies of donating the vaccine to Belarus six times. These are important and concrete actions to fulfil President Xi Jinping’s pledge to contribute to the availability of a coronavirus vaccine from China. It also demonstrates our strong and determined support for the Belarusian people in the fight against the pandemic. This testifies to the sincere friendship of our peoples, who jointly overcome misfortunes. As an Ambassador, I have personally witnessed the use of Chinese vaccine in many hospitals and vaccination stations. I felt the confidence of Belarusians in this drug. I am very glad that the vaccine helps to effectively fight the pandemic.”
The Ambassador stressed that the Chinese-Belarusian comprehensive interaction in other areas is also efficient and fruitful. “It is especially worth noting how on September 15th the heads of our countries held a historic meeting in Samarkand and jointly decided to bring relations to an all-weather all-round strategic partnership. This is a historic leap. Collaboration between our countries was given a powerful impetus. Being at a new historical starting point, China-Belarus co-operation boasts broad prospects and great potential. The Chinese side is ready to make every effort to implement the agreements reached by the heads of our countries.”
