China has sent two giant pandas to the Washington Zoo for the first time in 24 years, TASS reports

According to CNN, the male, Bao Li, and the female, Qing Bao, have already left the research centre in Dujiangyan and will arrive in Washington on a special Boeing 777 flight, dubbed the Panda Express. It is noted that corn buns, bamboo shoots, carrots, water and medicine were prepared for the animals on the plane.

The TV channel stressed that pandas were sent to the United States for the first time in 24 years. After the giant pandas Mei Xiang, Tian Tian and their cub Xiao Qi Ji returned to their homeland in November 2023, not a single bamboo bear remained at the Washington Zoo.
