Local media earlier reported that the station is located near the Ross Sea, and it is designed to accommodate 80 people in summer (up to 30 in winter).

It is clarified that Chinese scientists intend to conduct extensive research, including interdisciplinary projects. They will observe natural phenomena, ecology and wildlife, as well as monitor the state of the water area near the shores of Antarctica.

The Global Times reported that the Antarctic station project envisages international co-operation, and research programmes with the participation of Australia and Norway are planned. Liaisons with Russia, Australia, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Republic of Korea, the United States and Chile are expected in the field of supply.
